5′ Homemade PVC Missile Part 2
Documentary on my homemade rocket. I used the same engine making technique you can see here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=O8kG2g8BMJs
More videos to come!
This beast is 5 feet long, and in theory should fly to 2 thousand feet. I’m making it with only simple parts that can be found at home depot and and hobby stores.
This video is part one of many videos that will detail how I made it. The fuel that I’m using is sugar and potassium nitrate. This stuff when mixed together burns furiously and makes a lot hot gas. What I think is funny is that this propellant isn’t even that powerful. If I used a stronger oxidizer like ammonium perchlorate, this freaker would fly about ten times faster and ten times farther. Using simple ingredients and supplies, it is possible to create a very powerful tool, which in the hands of the wrong people, can be used as a weapon of destruction.
I am NOT an anarchist or a terrorist. I just want to humor myself and in the process show everyone how simple it is to create something so powerful. Be safe, respectful of others, and always do the right thing! Enjoy.

you think thats powerful, just stick a G-80 in that thing, and take cover because that rocket looks like it wont beable to handle a G-80.

“Kitty litter” is usually bentonite, and is used in cat litter boxes because it soaks up the stuff kitty leaves there. However, it also becomes very hard when it is compacted, and being a mineral, it also handles the heat of the exhaust gasses very well. Most small rocket motors commercially made use it as the nozzle.

All I buy from skylighter is shell parts and fuse… none of the chemicals ; )
I dont buy chemicals period. All I have to buy is black powder.. no big deal. I rob stars from black box artillery shells. One case is $35 wholesale.. thats 12 boxes each with 6 shells that are color coded with a thread on top. I can use the stars the same size as they already are.. or remake them into larger stars. I can make special effects with other cheap 1.4g works or fish fuse.

Skylighter is AWESOME! BUT, be careful; if you buy several things from Skylighter that CAN be used to make other types of explosives or anything like that, they’ll red-flag you and won’t send you anything for a while, and maybe your online purchases will be watched by some government group. hahaha.

what i found that works VERY WELL!!! for fins of a rocket are the thin flexible plastic yellow garage sale signs at home depot.they are tremenduosly strong and light weight. i use them for my rockets and i won the arizona model rocket contest in 07. they are awesome and only like 2 bucks for like a 1 foot by 1 foot sheet.
